It is a warming to complete a vibrant autumn scene. A person can relive the experience (and the scent of leaves) throughout the year through a scene such as this. We thoroughly enjoyed our fall hikes in the mountains near home when I was inspired to do this, including several trips in to a small lake surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forests. For a change, an early, killing frost followed by rain did not wash out and rot the colourful displays. On one particularly breezy day, the trees let loose their red and yellow abundance. I attempted to conjure up the feeling of walking up a steep trail to Silver Springs Lake, while leaves swirled and poured down on us.
