A Prime Bull Elk, an acrylic painting. One of my very first paintings, I did it with a beginners' set of paints. It was my first bull elk painting of many. I started this scene while camping near the Elk Lakes Provincial Park. Having been an avid hunter for many years and providing elk meat for my family, I wanted to paint a bull elk. While visiting Jasper National Park , I watched an elk just like this one beside the road tangling with a small tree with his antlers.
