Bev's Mosaics > Mosaics

The drawing for this was done on a blazing hot, summer afternoon near Lost Boys Pass at Fernie Alpine Resort. This is the second mosaic I've done from the same sketch; the other one not for sale. In the middle distance is the Rock Pile, aka Mammoth Droppings and in the distance is forest fire smoke creeping up from Montana during the infamous fire season of 1993. That was the last day the mountain was open for the remainder of the summer due to the fire hazard. The bare, faded and wind-blown snag is typical of trees in that area. The deep indigo-blue glass reminds me of the cold winds that blow through Lost Boys Pass in the winter when a weather front moves in.
